Jack West
I am a Christian in recovery.
I'm white and Indian grew up in a Mexican house hold in the middle of an African American neighborhood. I was pretty much raised to be a criminal and by the time I was 19 was heavily involved in drug dealing, pimping, burglary and many other criminal activites.
In 1993 I was saved and through Jesus was able to overcome alcoholism. I stayed sober for 10 years and dove into serving Him. As a result I became a preacher and preached all over the midwest and my sermons were broadcast over the radio weekly. Life was good.
The problem was I became so busy serving Him that I neglected my personal relationship with him. So when trials came I was found wanting and began making small compromises that made it easier to make the next small but slightly bigger compromise until over the course of 3 years I had not only ceased to be a minister I wasn't even involved in the church anymore. Worse than that I had returned to drinking and eventually started using hard drugs as well. So to make a long story short I started out a drug dealer, got saved became a preacher then backslid back to drug dealer again.
I was lost again running from God for 7 years. By the end of all this I had lost everything. My wife, my family, my home and even my freedom. I ended up going to prison 3 times and served 45 months in the Kansas Penn.
Now I am once again clean from drugs and alcohol and have been since may 17th 2010. I don't plan on going back into the ministry even though many people around the US are still praying that I do. My hopes now are to become a drug and alcohol counselor.
But I still have a love of theology. So my hubs are a mixture of Christian messages or theology and hubs about drugs and dealing them. A little skitso and at opposite extremes I know. LOL But I write about what I know and both of those things I definitely know.
I hope my hubs are a blessing and examples. God bless.
